One of My Favorite Marketing Quotes

Not sure who said it first, but my favorite marketing quote is this:

“Being shitty at what you do and having great marketing will only accelerate how quickly people find out that you suck.”

Love it. While most people shy away from marketing and wait way too long to tell people about themselves, there is a small group of business owners who do need get organized. It’s similar to selling a product in that way. You may have a decent product but your delivery of that product may be bad. There are stories of many businesses who have made it on Oprah only to be killed by the rush of new clients and the lack of great delivery.

For individuals who are THE business you may want to tweak your systems. Your delivery of what it is that you do, before going out full bore and marketing. Many small businesses owners do wait too long before actively marketing, so once you’ve got a client or two who are happy with what it is that you do, go on out and spread the word.
